For some reason, Daisy was not friendly. She did not like visitors and would try to bite anyone that came into her pen. Then one day, the owner came home and found that Daisy had snapped her fingers off at the first joint. The culprit behind this cruelty? Writer's block. With all of these thoughts filling my head, I didn't know how to get her attention in a positive manner without hurting her feelings or making things worse for both of us. The first year anniversary of my dear dog, Daisy , brought on a new series of photos. With her nickname being "Socks"--after the blue and green socks she used to wear before her amputation--I took a series of shots of a sock on a vacuum cleaner, a direct reference to my vacuum that kept malfunctioning at that time. I then took several shots with this new "Sock" character, and wished it could be as innocent as my little dog was. Based on the idea that God created man in his own image (and not directly contrary to the idea), I wanted to create my own creature in all its beauty and glory. Something that everyone could relate to and would appreciate. So, I decided to take up drawing... And paint my dog. The drawing of Daisy is based off the original black and white photograph. I decided to alter it slightly so that she would look more like a mare than a dog, and also work with the idea that this creature was intended to be painted. As I began to paint, I realized that this would be an opportunity to get comfortable with painting again after years of sculpting and self-expression through photography. At first, I did not feel confident in my skills as a painter- however the more pictures that I painted, the more comfortable I got with following my instincts. It's a challenge to be able to take a photograph and make it a half-realistic painting, but I think I pulled it off. My goal is to create a large painting based on this collection of images, something that people could relate to, and make them smile. To me, that's what art is all about - inspiring someone to take time out of their day to stop and appreciate the beauty that surrounds them. I already have one buyer lined up for this piece, however if you're interested in having something like this painted for you, feel free to contact me at: demura@wi.rr. com. http://www.demuraart.com/daisys_destruction/daisy_s_destruction.htm My Website: http://www.demuraart.com http://www.dawnfeathers.com/newsletter/2012-dawn-feathers-newsletter/the-untouchable-issue http://www.vintagepostersarchive.co. daisy\\\\\\\\'s destruction cfa1e77820
